Natchez Workforce Development plays a vital role in strengthening the workforce in Southwest Mississippi and the Miss-Lou area by providing access to continuing education resources.
These programs are made possible through partnerships with various organizations within the state and surrounding areas, all working together to empower the local workforce. These partners provide a comprehensive range of opportunities designed to enhance various skills essential for employee and employer growth.
The initiative aims to enhance skills and foster a sense of community and support among participants. Those who know of any additional resources that could benefit the program are encouraged to share, helping to enrich the offerings even further.
Individual Skills Testing
One of the program’s key components is individual skills testing and evaluation, from which we can direct the candidate to needed assistance. In addition to this foundational support, the program also focuses on advanced manufacturing skills, equipping participants with the knowledge and expertise needed to thrive in today’s technology-driven manufacturing environment.
Computer Skills Training
Computer skills training is another essential part of the curriculum, teaching participants how to effectively use computers in various contexts, which is increasingly important in almost every job sector. The program also emphasizes personal development, with courses designed to foster self-awareness and growth, enabling individuals to reach their full potential.
“Dress for Success” Workshops
“Dress for Success” workshops provide invaluable guidance on professional attire and presentation, ensuring that participants are well-prepared for job interviews and workplace environments. Training in writing and communications further enhances participants’ ability to articulate their thoughts and ideas clearly and effectively, a crucial skill in any professional setting.
Leadership Development
Leadership development is also a significant focus, helping individuals cultivate leadership qualities and management skills essential for career advancement. Additionally, the program offers individualized career coaching, providing guidance tailored to each participant’s unique career aspirations and challenges.
Compete2Complete
A free statewide program seeking to assist adults 21 years or older to finish up their degrees. C2C provides resources for returning students, including financial support, coaching, and finding degree options to help put those unused college credits towards getting a degree. Colleges in the Miss-Lou area that are part of the C2C program include Alcorn State University.

WorkKey scores help identify you your skills compare to the requirement of the job, with questions on the assessment reflecting real-world work scenarios. The Natchez WIN Job Center is a local test center that offers WorkKeys.
- Why It’s Popular: Unlike other assessments, ACT WorkKeys measure both a range of hard and soft skills that are relevant to any occupation at any level and across all industries.
- Target Audience: College Students, Adults and Young Adults.
PATH Assesment: AccelerateMS
- What It Does: Using Pyschology and Behavioral Science, the PATH Assesment is a 10 minute personality assessment that identifies an individual’s Dominate Workplace Mode. PATH stands for Purpose, Approach, Thinking, and Habits.
- Why It’s Popular: Free to use.
- Target Audience: Everyone in the workforce.
O*NET Interest Profiler
- What It Does: Helps youth identify their career interests based on their preferences for different types of work activities. It aligns their interests with the Holland Code career model, which categorizes careers into six types: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional (RIASEC).
- Why It’s Popular: Free, easy to use, and offers personalized career suggestions based on answers.
- Target Audience: High school students and young adults.
Holland Code Career Test
- What It Does: Like the O*NET Interest Profiler, this test assesses career interests based on Holland’s RIASEC Model. It helps youth discover career paths based on their personality types and work preferences.
