Housing Stability Programs
Programs such as the Natchez Rapid Rehousing & Emergency Solutions from Catholic Charities of Jackson, assist families and individuals who are homeless or displaced due to domestic violence.
Low-Income Housing & Utility Assistance
To further assist low-income job seekers, we’ve listed links for assistance with utilities, and housing. These vital programs help ensure that employees can gain self-sufficiency, reduce stress, and improve employee retention.
Mississippi Department of Human Services offers help through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP,) and the Emergency Crisis Intervention Program (ECIP,) which are available in all of Mississippi’s 82 counties for home energy bills and weatherization. Mississippi United To End Homelessness or MUTEH partners on both state and local levels within cities to serve homeless populations and seeks to end homelessness. They provide assistance for those experiencing a housing crisis in rural Mississippi through homelessness, those at-risk of losing their housing, offer supportive service grants for Veteran families, and a Rapid Re-Housing Program.
The non-profit AJFC Community Action Agency extends support to the low-income community by administering federal programs such as Community Services Block Grant (CSBG,) Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP,) and Emergency Crisis Intervention Program (ECIP,) as a subgrantee under the State of Mississippi.
Food Assistance
Hunger still affects a large population in the United States. Without reliable access to healthy food, low-income individuals may be distracted on the job and/or have reduced energy for their work, in addition to other challenges it presents for them.

Employment Equity for Single Mothers
Mississippi Low-Income Child Care Initiate (MLICCI) started this program to assist single mothers in Mississippi by helping make child care available to those going back to school or taking job training. The program is new as of 2024, so check with MLICCI to see if you qualify and what service are available in your area.
Childcare Services
Access to childcare is essential for job seekers as it can reduce stress and help increase an individual’s productivity. A list of daycares in the Adams County area is linked below for those whose workplaces do not provide childcare services.
Transportation
Owning a vehicle can increase the likelihood of employment for low-income individuals, however not everyone has access to reliable transportation or enough funds to purchase a car or truck. For these job seekers, accessible mass transit options are available!
One of the oldest transportation systems in the state, Natchez Transit System and Southwest Mississippi Accessible Regional Transportation (SMART) offers trips for employees to local businesses in 13 counties in the Miss-Lou, as well as non-emergency medical transportation and services to local colleges and universities.
